Geothermal - a renewable source of energy

Geothermal from the Greek words -  geo (earth) therme (heat) :  Using the earth to heat and cool our homes and businesses, a renewable source of energy

"We have lived with a geothermal heating and cooling systems for more than 10 years.  I can honestly say it is the best method of heating and cooling I have experienced.  Geothermal is a quiet system whether it is heating or cooling an area and clean.  It does need an energy source to drive the system, we chose electricity generated by wind power.

The upfront costs of a geothermal system can be costly.  We purchased a system when remodeling our home.  Insulation is a top priority, but this should be done to a home regardless of whether or not geothermal is being installed.  We were fortunate that at the time the federal government was offering a 30% direct write off of the installation costs from our taxes, this tax credit no longer applies.  We strongly feel this tax incentive should be renewed to make the system more financially viable for people." ~Elisabeth of Mobilization for Animals
